Bio | Karen Staib Duffy Karen Staib Duffy is an Executive Coach, President and Founder of Quantum Development Inc. She has been a confidential sounding board, thought partner and collaborator for greater success for over 15 years. Karen acts as a catalyst, making your best even better. Karen works with you to discover new ways to make better decisions, handle difficult situations more smoothly, and improve organizational relationships. Her focus is on long-term results as she moves leaders to improve their current performance, prepare for promotion, and move into new roles and higher levels of responsibility. Karen’s specialty is Developmental Coaching, with a focus on Strategic Coaching – practical and performance-based, and Ontological Coaching – concentrating on the development of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Leadership skills. Combined, they offer individuals and teams the opportunity for transformational learning and quantum leaps in development. Karen is an Ontological Coach, certified through Newfield Network’s Coaching for Professional and Personal Mastery (CPPM) and a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation. She has an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. Karen held a variety of roles with Korn/Ferry International’s Coaching and Executive Development, including three years as Regional Managing Director for Illinois. Before establishing her own firm, Karen specialized in finance for over 20 years and was a Managing Director at one of Chicago’s leading financial institutions, Banc One Capital Markets (now part of JP Morgan Chase). During that time, she had exposure to management, risk management, sales and relationship management, and business/product development. Karen’s early career was with the First National Bank of Chicago and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Karen is adept at working concurrently with multiple layers of leadership within an organization, maintaining confidentiality and trust at all times. She has coached teams within one $500 million healthcare analytics company for more than 10 years. Typical clients include C-level, EVP, SVP and VPs, managing directors, senior client partners, directors, managers and professionals, in large corporations, non-profits and academia. Organizations include investment and commercial banking, data analytics, consulting, healthcare, retail, media, manufacturing, and universities. She has a global presence, having worked with executives in the US, England, Germany, Spain, Poland, Croatia, Russia, Luxembourg, Greece, Austria, Finland, and Singapore. Karen has worked with executives and teams at IBM Watson Health, Shire, CME Group, Truven Healthcare Analytics, Baxalta, Ernst & Young, Korn/Ferry International, The Tribune Company, Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, Computer Sciences Corporation, Thomson Reuters, and YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago. Karen has been a featured speaker and author on leadership, empowerment, emotional intelligence, and taking on great challenges. She is a contributing author to “Stepping Stones to Success.” Her chapter is “Yikes! What Do I Do Now?” She also wrote “Breakdowns to breakthroughs: an ontological approach to thought loops and growth edges,” published in “VINE: The Journal of Information and Knowledge Management Systems.” Karen is active in various business and philanthropic organizations, including the CEO Roundtable, 2020 Women on Boards, the University of Chicago Booth Alumni Club, and the International Coach Federation (ICF).
